In recent years, there has been a growing surge of interest in the application of data analytics (DA) within the realm of supply chain management (SCM), attracting attention from both practitioners and researchers. This paper presents a comprehensive examination of recent implementations of DA in SCM. Employing a systematic literature review (SLR), we conducted a meticulous analysis of over 354 papers. Building upon a prior SLR conducted in 2018, we identify contemporary areas where DA has been applied across various functions within the supply chain and scrutinize the DA models and techniques that have been employed. A comparison between past findings and the current literature reveals a notable upsurge in the utilization of DA across most SCM functions, with a particular emphasis on the prevalence of predictive analytics models in contemporary SCM applications. The findings of this paper offer a detailed insight into the specific DA models and techniques currently in use across various SCM functions. Additionally, a discernible increase in the adoption of mixed or hybrid DA models is observed. However, several research gaps persist, including the need for more attention to real-time DA in SCM, the integration of publicly available data, and the application of DA to mitigate uncertainty in SCM. To address these areas and guide future research endeavors, the paper concludes by delineating six concrete research directions. These directions offer valuable avenues for further exploration in the field.

Last mile delivery (LMD) logistics research has drawn attention due to increased urban compactness and environmental concerns arising from freight traffic congestion. This has affected the cost-effectiveness and on-time delivery of urban freight. This study aims to develop a strategic framework to formulate future LMD scenarios based on transport and urban planning constraints using a scenario thinking approach. A scenario thinking stakeholder workshop was conducted to collect data on last mile delivery constraints in Metropolitan Melbourne. The research develops five abridge scenario thinking stages that researchers can adopt in scenario thinking methodology. Using brainstorming and storytelling of scenario thinking approach, participants identified 34 transportation and planning constraints clustered into six urban built-environment dimensions that formed the basis of the development of LMD future scenarios. The six clustered dimensions include Freight Infrastructure, Infrastructure Supply, Land use Intensity, Infrastructure Sharing, Intersection Controls and Human Behaviour. Infrastructure Supply and Land use Intensity were found to represent higher uncertainty and higher impact on city logistics provisions. The proposed regulatory-informed and efficiency-responsive strategies are the key to manage LMD. These strategies will help city logistics providers and planners in development of operational plans in making investment decision on LMD challenges.

In a dynamic business landscape, competition is increasingly shifting from individual entities to the competitive strength of the entire supply chain. Therefore, it is imperative to ensure and enhance supply chain competitiveness. Accordingly, our study explores the crucial role of collaboration-enhancing elements within supply chains, focusing on how trust, collaboration, and affective commitment—integral aspects of supply chain management—affect logistics performance, a key performance indicator in this domain. The study introduces two distinct dimensions of trust as precursors to fostering collaboration and enhancing affective commitment. Additionally, it scrutinizes the intricate interplay between supply chain collaboration, affective commitment, and logistics performance. For empirical evidence, we surveyed employees in supply chain-related departments in Korean manufacturing companies, analyzing 281 questionnaires. A structural equation model was employed to rigorously test hypotheses. Within regard to trust, cognitive trust has been identified as a significant catalyst for promoting supply chain collaboration, while both affective and cognitive trust contribute positively to cultivating affective commitment. Conversely, affective commitment is considered a pertinent precursor to fostering supply chain collaboration. Significantly, both supply chain collaboration and affective commitment exhibit a substantial and positive influence on enhancing logistics performance. These findings underscore the pivotal roles of supply chain collaboration and affective commitment in establishing enduring partnerships within supply chains, with trust, in its multifaceted form, emerging as the keystone facilitating these crucial relationships.

This study aims to empirically investigate the predictors of intentions to adopt green supply chain management (GSCM) practices. Technology-Organization-Environment framework has incorporated as a primary theoretical lens in which technological factors (relative advantage, compatibility, and complexity), organizational factors (corporate social responsibility, organizational readiness and top management support) and environmental factors (normative pressure, coercive pressure, mimetic pressure and government support) were ruminated which is further extended with Self-determination theory factors (intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation). The data was collected through an online survey from the employee of manufacturing SMEs in Pakistan and received 409 valid responses for hypothesis testing. The results demonstrated that all the selected predictors are significantly associated with intentions to adopt GSCM practices. The findings of the study contributed to the literature on intentions to adopt GSCM practices and provide intuition to scholars and practitioners.

This study aimed to identify the interactions between the sub-systems of the supply chain system of milled grain products, in South Africa, namely: (1) farming (agricultural); (2) transport (transportation); (3) manufacturing (milling); and (4) trade (retail). Furthermore, this paper investigated how these sub-systems are affected by economic and natural external factors namely: (1) the exchange rate between ZAR and USD; (2) the price of international crude oil; and (3) climate change and/or droughts. For this purpose, system dynamics (SD) model was developed and used, which enabled to accommodate the system components and factors influencing the performance of the supply chain system of milled grain products. The SD model runs demonstrated the interdependent relationships among the four sub-systems of the supply chain of milled grain products. Furthermore, the simulation results and scenario analysis showed the impact of the three external factors on the overall performance of the milled grain supply chain and its four sub-systems in terms of the availability and utilization of farming land, grain yield, transportation costs, milling costs, retail costs and farming profits.
